Located in the Cerqueira César district of São Paulo, Figueira Rubaiyat is a restaurant that focuses on Brazilian food recognized mainly for their steak. This restaurant is one of the most unique restaurants in São Paulo characterized by over a century year old gigantic fig that sprouts from the center of the restaurant. Hence the restaurant’s name, Figueira, which translates to “fig tree” in Portuguese and Rubaiyat is the name of the farm also under the restaurant group. The design of the restaurant is absolutely stunning and is built around the trees branches that extend throughout the entire space.
We hit up Figueira Rubaiyat the day before the opening of the FIFA World Cup. The restaurant was packed and lively filled with die hard fans from all over the world but a good mix of Brasil and Croatia fans. Figueira Rubaiyat gave off amazing vibes especially with proud fans filling the room with songs and cheering for their national team. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner with a strong focus on meat and seafood. We went with a huge group of people and had someone else do the ordering so had a few starters to share and each had a Brazilian grilled steak and pommes soufflés.
Started off the meal with Pão de Queijo, foccacia and bread. I love these little cheese buns.
Refreshing and simple salad with mozzarella cheese.
Steak and pommes soufflées or as our friend Neil calls them, “balloon chips”. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare, juicy, flavorful and well seasoned. The pommes soufflées were light, crunchy and delicious.
